Review of ScanGuard: Essential Antivirus 2017
This is a great antivirus for most users. ScanGuard is easy to install & use. It's a lightweight program that runs in the background to protect your computer. ScanGuard comes with a hard drive cleaner to remove unneccessary files.
Detection: 9.8/10
The "Full Scan" detected 100% of threats in less than 20 minutes. ScanGuard detected malicious browser toolbars and start-up programs.
Removal: 9.6/10
Unfortunately, 2% of threats were still remaining after the first full scan and removal. We had to run another scan to completely remove all threats from the test computer.
Monitoring: 9.4/10
ScanGuard's real-time protection stops you from installing dangerous software. While browsing online it blocks malicious content. We noticed that the real-time protection was not accurate on some occassions. It was blocking legitimate content, and allowing some malicious email attachments to be opened.
